Welcome to Technology
Hi there! My name is Thomas Bilous (rhymes with Pillows), though most of the students call me Mr. B. This is my 8th year teaching at Aurora Academy, and I am excited to be branching out from a homeroom teacher to being a specials teacher. I took the past two years off from teaching to explore a career in tech, and I'm bringing a lot of the tips and tricks I learned from that industry back to teaching.

This year we will be covering a variety of topics, including but not limited to:
Digital citizenship - covering password security, online safety, and safe internet behavior
Coding - we will be using a variety of gamified platforms to teach Python, a common coding language
STEAM Principals - we have several exciting kits for students to explore, including Snap Circuits for the younger grades and Sphereo Blueprint Engineering for the older grades. We also will be programming some simple robots
Graphic Design - Students will be using Canva for Education to learn some basics of graphic design
Video Editing - Students will use some simple editing tools to make video content, as well as use the Green Screen to learn some fun and transferable skills

About Me:
As mentioned, I have recently taken time out of teaching, but felt like I wanted to contribute to a local community more than a large corporation. I'm very pleased to be back among a group of teachers and an administration I respect and admire. In my free time, I enjoy watching and playing soccer (Arsenal F.C.), cooking and baking, rock climbing, playing the guitar, and reading. I tend to read a lot, and I am hoping to instill a love of reading in my students this year. I'm already at 60+ books on the year. You may see me at back carline in the morning (I'm in the yellow vest) or zipping around on my E-Bike on the way to or from school.
